The Chairman of the Seimas of the Lithuanian Republic Vydas Gedvilas congratulated the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on adopting the Statement “On fulfillment of Euro-integrational aspirations of Ukraine and conclusion of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.”
“I am greatly pleased to congratulate the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on adopting the joint statement of yours country’s political parties in support of the European integration,” the letter of Vydas Gedvilas to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak reads.
The Speaker of the Seimas of the Lithuanian Republic states that the current year is “a time of ground-breaking determination and historical opportunity” for Ukraine. “I firmly believe that more rapid reforms and unity of all political parties for the sake of a common goal will bring Ukraine closer to an especially significant achievement – an Association Agreement, including a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, with the European Union,” the Speaker of the Seimas said.
According to him, signing of the Association Agreement in Vilnius Summit in November 2013 would be really symbolic “as it would not only once again stand testament to the close historical relationship between Vilnius and Kiev and close political, economic and cultural ties between Lithuania and Ukraine, but also move Ukraine closer to the family of European nations.”
“I hope that the EU-Ukraine Summit on 25 February will strengthen the resolve of both sides to seek the signing of the Association Agreement. We are strongly convinced that Ukraine will become an inseparable part of Europe and that the European integration project will not be completed without Ukraine,” stressed the Chairman of the Seimas of the Lithuanian Republic.
